Today, I had an in-home session with this sweet 18 days old newborn girl. Her mom had carefully planned ahead so that she was fed partially before the session, and fully fed during the session. We’ve got an assortment of photos of the newborn while she is awake and asleep and she was super content in both states.

…just like an angel!

For me, newborn portrait is about capturing the detail characteristics of newborns… the skin, the gesture, and the pureness of the baby. I enjoyed capturing newborns as I see it as a truly meaningful documentation of this very early stage in life.

Being first time parent, the excitement of having a new baby … I believe, cannot be fully expressed with words. I chose images to express the moment I witnessed.

Capturing various expressions of babies is one of the favorite parts of my work. They always have new expressions as they develop and change at an incredible pace. One week they are trying to find their fingers, next week they have moved on to something new. By capturing them, we are reliving them. I enjoyed this 2 months old darling so much. Not only was she very cooperative (yes.. she loves looking at my camera and would turn her head where ever I go), but she seems to be a little thinker to me. At this stage, she is very fascinated with her surroundings, it shows in her eyes not only her wonders, but a quest for answers too.

They say that the best time to successfully photograph a newborn is before 10 days old. This little newbie was exactly 9 days old when we did the shoot. We had so much fun during the shoot and I am very happy with the result. Whenever I look at the newborn’s little feet and hands, I feel the wonderful power of mother nature. Every detail is so perfect! We all should remember our born beauty and perfection that was here the first day we were born.
